Founded on August 29, 1967, the WMPC Employees Representative Union was born out of a shared vision among skilled workers at MPC Products, a small, family-owned company specializing in precision components. At the time, MPC was a modest operation, producing critical parts for aviation and industrial applications. However, as the demand for cutting-edge aerospace technology grew, so did the dedication of its workforce—men and women who believed in craftsmanship, innovation, and fairness in the workplace.

In its early years, the union fought to secure fair wages, safe working conditions, and job stability for employees who were the backbone of the company’s success. Through collective bargaining and a steadfast commitment to its members, the union not only improved labor conditions but also played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s culture—one that valued its workforce as much as its technological advancements.

As MPC Products expanded its reach, evolving from a small manufacturer into a key supplier of motors, sensors, electronics, actuators, and flight deck controls for modern aircraft, the union was there every step of the way. By the early 2000s, the company had gained industry recognition for its contributions to aerospace innovation, and in 2008, it was acquired by Woodward, a global leader in energy and aerospace solutions. With this transition to a publicly traded corporation, the workforce faced new challenges, but the union remained steadfast, ensuring that the voices of the workers who built the company’s legacy were never forgotten.

Today, the Woodward MPC Employees Representative Union is 800 members strong and growing, representing a workforce that has helped shape the aviation industry. The union continues to fight for fair wages, strong benefits, and workplace protections while adapting to the evolving demands of aerospace technology. The journey from a small, family-run business to a global powerhouse is a testament to the skill, resilience, and dedication of its union members—those who have not only built a company but also a lasting legacy of solidarity and strength.
